Thanksgiving Throwback: What Is Your Favorite Thanksgiving Dish?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pepperdine chapter.

Thanksgiving is a time of festivity and happiness. Many students go home and celebrate this holiday with their family, while others celebrate it with their friends at school. For me, it is one of my favorite holidays because of its delicious food!

1. Turkey

I have always been a big fan of turkey! If you are wondering what the difference between the taste of chicken and turkey is, turkey meat is a bit firmer and drier. People may say that chicken tastes better, but I personally think gravy goes much better with turkey! Plus, isn’t turkey the main traditional Thanksgiving dish?

2. Gravy

I personally think gravy makes everything taste better. It makes a good dish into an excellent one. I like eating my gravy with turkey, mashed potato, and dinner buns.

3. Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes can be made into so many different kinds of texture! Depending on how you like it, it can be chunky, creamy, buttery, or light.

4. Stuffing

When I first laid eyes on stuffing, it did not look appetizing at all. However, looks may be deceiving. So if you didn’t try stuffing this Thanksgiving because you too were driven off by its wacky appearance, take a risk and try it next year! Maybe it will even become one of your favorite Thanksgiving foods.

5. Cranberry Sauce

I would not say that I’m a big fan of cranberry sauce because I don’t really like having a sweet taste on food that is salty. However, that’s just me, so don’t let my opinion stop you from trying it!

6. Dinner Buns

I eat these with my mashed potatoes and gravy!

7. Pumpkin Pie

Time for some dessert! I would have to say that this is my all time favorite Thanksgiving food. I have tried pumpkin pie from so many different places: Costco, Marie Callender’s, Stater Bros., Ralphs, etc. They all taste pretty good, but I think the one from Stater Bros tastes the best. If you have never tried pumpkin pie because you don’t like the taste of pumpkin, you should really try it because I don’t like eating pumpkin at all, but I love pumpkin pie. Also, if you want to try making your own healthier kind of pumpkin pie, you can use a real pumpkin to make it from instead of canned ones!
