It’s February…is there still time for a new year, new me?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

In a blink of an eye, we mentally try to prepare ourselves for 2022. I mean, we are already over a month in and so much has happened that it’s scary. And trust me, when I say “we,” I mean WE. Just know you are not alone, we see you. With the Omicron variant lingering over our heads, some of us aren’t too confident in the new year, new me type of mood. New year resolutions have become a little bit more difficult to keep as a result of these insane increases then decreases in cases and states. Psychological reactions to COVID-19 have been studied by the CDC and have been found positive in changes in appetite (such as binge eating), energy, difficulty concentrating and making decisions, and feelings of fear and worry in relation to difficulty sleeping and/or nightmares.

Self-care is the most critical aspect of being your New Me globally, given the world we now live in. To be productive and still take on that New Year, New Me status, writer Brigitt Earley explains that focusing on self-awareness and listening to your body has many advantages. We are able to be more confident, creative, and productive. We also have greater fun, make better choices, have stronger relationships, and improve communication. So go–and I mean go right now–read a book, build a puzzle, journal, or do a little yoga. Because self-care will always be your #1 biggest fan. And remember…

We are all in this together.
