During the break, my mom and I decided to meet friends and go skiing in Connecticut. I was really excited about this since I had not gone skiing in many years. We got up early and took the train to New York City. There, we spent the day in Chinatown, ate delicious Chinese food, and relaxed. In the evening, we met our friends and drove to Torrington, Connecticut. Torrington is a small town in the upper left part of Connecticut. We were so tired on the trip there that everyone was sleeping on the two-hour car ride. I remember getting out of the car and feeling really cold since I had spent the past few months at Oxford. Next morning, there was light snow and we went to a small diner to get breakfast. They had the best pancakes and eggs ever and I quickly ate my meal because I was so hungry. After that, we drove to the ski slopes and started. I initially had a lot of trouble. The instructor had to manually push me on to the lift because I couldn’t move fast enough. Every time I fell, she also had to help pull me up. We were both laughing, but I was determined to continue to learn. I eventually was able to get the hang of skiing down the simple slopes and had a lot of fun. The worst part of the whole experience was taking off the giant ski shoes. They were painful and I was so glad once they came off. Overall, I loved learning to ski and I can’t wait to go back.
