Clear, glowing skin is a quality we all strive for. Having clear skin is certainly a confidence booster and it can also relieve some stress. That smooth, baby soft skin we had before puberty is something we all miss. Between wearing makeup and eating foods that aren’t the best for us, our skin in turn reacts to all of this and it definitely shows. Since being in college, I can admit there’s been a few times I have neglected my skin, but this year I’ve decided to take a different approach. I started a skincare routine that has been pretty successful so far; my skin looks more awake, and it has a natural glow. Consider adding these products to your skincare routine, wait a few weeks, and watch your skin transform.

1. A good quality washcloth

When I say good, I mean good. Washcloths play a crucial part in keeping your skin clean, especially since this is usually the first step to cleaning your skin. A good washcloth is one that has an exfoliating component to it. Instead of washing your face with soaps that have exfoliating beads that can be too harsh on your skin, use a washcloth and scrub thoroughly. I usually scrub with just warm water because warm water opens your pores and you will get a deeper clean. You’ll know when you got all the dirt and oil off your face once you are able to rub your face and actually feel the squeaky cleanness.

2. Witch Hazel

I have heard that witch hazel has many uses, but I primarily use witch hazel as a toner. After I am done washing my face, I apply witch hazel to a cotton pad and rub it onto my skin. It minimizes the size of my pores and makes my skin instantly look smooth and even-toned. It is also a gentle cleanser that can prevents pimples, as it removes dirt and oil found in your skin. I recommend T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel which retails at Walmart for around $5.

3. Aztec Secret Indian Clay

This is by far one of my favorite masks! I have sensitive skin so therefore, I can only use certain products on it. This mask works great with my sensitive skin, and I only use it once a week because that is what the company recommends. Whenever I use this mask, I notice that it cleans my skin from beneath the surface. It speeds up the process of my pimples and all the dirt that was under the surface of my skin comes up. I usually keep the mask on for 15 minutes and my skin looks so pure after I wash it off.

4. Aloe Oil

I’ve been moisturizing my skin with aloe oil since this past summer. I use aloe oil to treat any dark spots I may have on my face. Aloe is known to promote healthy skin and has the natural ability to repair damaged skin. The dark spots I have are scars from pimples I’ve had in the past and aloe oil helps renew the skin, while also giving your skin a natural glow.

5. Water, water and more water!

We’ve all heard it plenty of times, but water is seriously the main ingredient to clear skin. I usually drink four bottles a day. I prefer Poland Spring because – as the name implies – it comes directly from a natural spring. Although drinking four bottles a day has me going to the restroom frequently, I don’t mind because it’s a clear indicator that I am getting rid of all the toxins in my body. The faster the toxins are out the clearer my skin will be.
