Macy Mahony, ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

If you’re interested in someone grounded, meet Campus Cutie Macy Mahony. This down-to-earth cutie feels most comfortable with her feet firmly on the ground, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t up for being swept off her feet.  Take her out for a low-key sushi dinner and she might just let her senses go and dive in.

Name: Macy Mahony

Age: 19

Hometown: Syracuse, New York

Major/Why: Childhood education because I like kids.  In 7th grade, I had a psychotic English teacher; I loved him.  He would come in every day hyped up on coffee and be like “all right kids, today we’re going to learn about verbs!”  He made me want to be a teacher.

Relationship Status: Single

What do you look for in a guy? He has to be tall.  I don’t look at the skinny, skinny guys.  He has to be funny and easy to talk to.  Also, he has to be going somewhere, that’s for sure.

What is your ideal date? I don’t like dates, they are awkward.  If I’m going out to dinner, it’s like, I’m going out to dinner, not “oooh, it’s a date!”

Where would you want to travel? U.K.  I want to meet the Brit’s and see Harry Potter, you know, meet an English-speaking man and have English-speaking babies.

What would your super power be? I want to be able to read people’s minds, but be able to control when I could and be able to turn it off.  Wouldn’t that be cool?

What color would you be? Purple, like a light purple.  It’s just my favorite color.  It’s a nice calm color, like I would walk in and you would just go, “Oh, okay Macy is here.”

What are you afraid of ? Spiders, outer space, deep underwater and dinosaurs.  Oh, and I guess I would have to be afraid of the One Eyed Purple People Eater.

What are your favorite books? To Kill a Mockingbird, that’s a damn good book, but obviously Harry Potter.

What is your favorite season? Summer because it’s warm and everything is in full blossom.  It’s just pretty.

Kaitlin Provost graduated from SUNY Oswego, majoring in journalism with a learning agreement in photography. She grew up in five different towns all over the Northeast, eventually settling and graduating from high school in Hudson, Massachusetts. Kait now lives in the blustery town of Oswego, New York, where she can frequently be found running around like a madwoman, avoiding snow drifts taller than her head (which, incidentally, is not very tall). She has worked for her campus newspaper, The Oswegonian, as the Assistant News Editor, and is also the President of the Oswego chapter of Ed2010, a national organization which helps students break into the magazine industry. She hopes to one day work for National Geographic and travel the world.
