Elliott Couch ’11

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.
You ladies sure love your athletes! Last week you nominated Dan Erne to be our Campus Cutie, and this week you’ve selected another sport fanatic. Collegiettes™,  meet Elliott Couch, a senior midfielder on the lacrosse team. He loves doing anything active, so impress him with your outdoor adventures to win his heart!

Age: 21

Hometown: Minisink Valley, N.Y.

Ethnic background: Polish, English, Dutch

Expected graduation year: 2011

Major (s) and why: Business Administration with a focus on International Business and Finance.  I also have a minor in Health Science.  I decided to major in business because I enjoy the demands and challenges that everyday management situations present, and  I’m focusing on the  international realm because I spent a semester in Australia last semester and became intrigued by the idea of global economies working together.  I picked up a minor in health science because I’ve always been interested in nutrition and the effects different foods/lifestyles can result in.

Relationship status: Single

Involvement on campus: Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Team, Student Advisory Committee to School of Business Dean, Investment Club, Alumni Network, St. Baldrick’s Cancer Fundraising, Financial Management Association, SUNY Oswego GOLD Leadership Council, and Student Athlete Academic Council. Oh,  I’m a lifeguard at Lee Hall too.

Which three words describe you best? Outgoing, Determined, Enthusiastic

Favorite Oswego bar: The Sting

Favorite Oswego memory:  Lacrosse alumni parties at The Nut House  freshman year.

Qualities in an ideal girlfriend:  My ideal girlfriend would have an active lifestyle, always be down for spontaneous activities, achieve success inside and outside the classroom, and always be able to keep me on my toes.

Idea of a perfect date:  Some kind of outdoor activity like a day hike then a great dinner at night on a harbor.

Favorite quote: “Most men know what they hate, few know what they love.” –Charles Caleb

If you could be any snack, what would it be and why?  Oreo Cookies.  There awesome to play with.
Samantha Shelton is a senior at SUNY Oswego with a dual major in journalism and creative writing. Hailing from a super small town that doesn't even have a stop light, Samantha enjoys soccer, spinning and trying any flavor of frozen yogurt imaginable! She has been the Managing Editor of her student newspaper, The Oswegonian, and completed the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) summer internship program in 2010 at FITNESS magazine. Samantha recently launched Ed2010 at Oswego State, a national networking organization that helps students break into the magazine industry. These days, (when she’s not running from class to class) you can find Samantha at the campus fitness centers, where she works as the PR student manager and a personal trainer; working with Colleges Against Cancer to help find a cure; or in a comfy cafe chair reading her latest pile of magazines.
