Ben Sweet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Talk about being involved on campus; Senior Ben Sweet is more than just the Captain of the Oswego men’s cross country team and member of the track team.

Ben, hailing from Pine Bush, NY, is also a Navigator at the Compass, helping students with their resumes, finding internships, and basically figuring out how to get where they want to be in their careers. He says he loves going to work, because he greatly enjoys helping others.

When Ben is not spending his time as a Navigator, you can probably find him out on a run with his team preparing for their next meet. He helped lead the men’s cross country team to a third place win out of 15 teams at the Houghton invitational meet earlier this month, and placed 12th out of 130 competitors. (Check out his mention on the Oswego Athletics site as a former Athlete of the Week here: http://athletics.oswego.edu/awards.aspx?aow=245) Pretty impressive, if you ask us!

Ben has also managed to put together a presentation aimed at getting student athletes involved on campus, which he has presented to numerous groups and classes, and still maintains a high GPA in his major: Psychology. He plans on attending graduate school for higher education and student affairs, and hopes to work for a college or university.

Kaitlin Provost graduated from SUNY Oswego, majoring in journalism with a learning agreement in photography. She grew up in five different towns all over the Northeast, eventually settling and graduating from high school in Hudson, Massachusetts. Kait now lives in the blustery town of Oswego, New York, where she can frequently be found running around like a madwoman, avoiding snow drifts taller than her head (which, incidentally, is not very tall). She has worked for her campus newspaper, The Oswegonian, as the Assistant News Editor, and is also the President of the Oswego chapter of Ed2010, a national organization which helps students break into the magazine industry. She hopes to one day work for National Geographic and travel the world.
