Halloween in Columbus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

Entering the second half of October always gets collegiettes™ excited for the best holiday celebrated on college campuses: Halloween!  Or should we say, Halloweekend.  The 31st of October brings with it a much-needed break from midterm exams, an opportunity to branch out from the standard skirt-and-top ensemble of every weekend, and an excuse to get crazy and creative with your friends.  But all of that just happens on the last weekend of the month.  What about the “Halloween season?”  It’s not a universally recognized concept, but I think it will catch on soon … maybe.  Either way, I recognize it as a time to take full advantage of everything that fall has to offer and as a rationalization for taking a hiatus from the stress of school a little while longer.

And count your blessings, Buckeyes, because Columbus sure knows how to provide for those of us who wish to stretch the Halloween season a bit further.  From Halloween stores to haunted locales to pumpkin patches, C-bus doesn’t fail to deliver on Halloween activities.  Read on to discover all of Columbus’ fall treasures, but act quickly: winter will be here before you know it!

If you’re in need of a killer costume, check out one of the numerous Halloween stores in and around Columbus.  With various locations and tons of options at each one, you’re bound to find that one perfect costume you’ve been envisioning—or two, because dressing up twice is double the fun!

If you want to check out a local farm’s fall activities, one of the following locations is perfect for you.  The first is renown for its fruit picking; the second for its expansive greenhouse.  But during the Halloween season, both accommodate autumn-lovers with corn mazes, hayrides, campfires, games and—most importantly—pumpkin patches!  Plan a weekend excursion with your friends to get pumpkins to decorate your apartment or dorm and spread the Halloween spirit!
