That’s right, I said it. It is OK to mix prints! I know what you’re thinking—normal people can’t pull that kind of trend off…mixing patterns is for those “Avant Garde” fashion shows. Well, I’m here to tell you that is SO not the case; mixing patterns can even be fun! Besides adding a savvy twist to your ordinary, everyday outfits, mixing prints can also add a new dimension to your look. If you’re still not convinced, here are three easy tips to conquer this trend and leave you feeling like the hottest fashionista:

Start Small

As a cardinal rule when trying a new trend, confidence is key.  That said, if you are still extremely intimidated by this concept, start small. Pair a leopard clutch with a polka dot blouse or striped chinos with a floral scarf. Stay within your comfort zone until you’re ready to rock an ensemble entirely in prints.

Stay within the same color scheme

A common color scheme is crucial as it adds a little cohesion to a look that could otherwise look thrown together. Look for a common color when pairing two prints—if you’re pairing a red-and-white-striped sweater with a floral skirt, make sure the skirt also boasts a red hue.

Vary print sizes

Wearing two bold prints can drown you out or create a busy feeling. Instead, combine a larger print with a smaller one. This allows the bolder print to become the focus while the second print acts as a compliment and doesn’t overwhelm you.

There you have it! See, that wasn’t so bad right? So, have fun and dare to be bold with this season’s trend! And, most importantly, love what you’re wearing and flaunt your savvy style!
