Beating the Winter Weather: Quick Tips to Staying Healthy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

After playing racquetball and stuffing my face full of Honey BBQ wings, the last thing I wanted to find out last Saturday night was that my temperature had sky-rocketed to 101.2°.  Being held captive by my twin bed and letting my schoolwork slowly pile up was not my idea of a fun weekend.  Don’t let this happen to you!

Never fear!

Here are some quick tips to keep you on the move and healthy.

  1. Dress WarmAlthough it might be tempting to leave the dorm with your half-dry hair and short mini-skirt… Don’t! Instead, layer on sweater after sweater, buy some cute hats that cover your ears and do your best to cover up during these frigid times.
  2. Wash Your Hands:  You’ve probably been told this a thousand times, but with the college atmosphere that we live in, washing your hands is key.  If you really need some extra motivation, go to CVS and buy yourself a fun scent of hand sanitizer to pop into your purse.
  3. Eat Well:  Surprisingly, your diet directly affects your immune system.  Try to lean towards foods such as soup and hot tea to stay warm, and ramp up the nutritious fruit and veggies to fight away any invading bacteria or viruses.

Good luck, Bucks!  Hopefully following these few tips can help you fight the cold winter months with style.
