While summer is my favorite season by far, my favorite season to dress for is fall. There’s something about being able to wear cozy sweaters and sweatshirts that makes everything easier and more fun. It also seems that less thought is required for each outfit and I love an effortless look. Below, I listed my favorite trends for the upcoming season that I’m sure you’ve also been seeing pop up everywhere!

1. Cardigans

Somewhere along the line, cardigans went from closet staples to an item only moms wore. Chunky, buttonless sweaters were all the rage, and are still super cute, but cardigans are popping back up everywhere. I’ve noticed celebs wearing them with only one button buttoned and cropped, which is a bit of an elevated take.

2. Purple

I’ve never really been a purple fan and I genuinely do not own a single purple item of clothing. However, the color has been so popular recently that I may have to reevaluate my opinion. Specifically, it seems that lavender shades are really having a moment. It was all over New York Fashion Week. 3. Straight-leg Jeans

We’ve been hearing for a long time that skinny jeans are no longer the denim trend and that looser, definitely more comfortable, jeans are coming back. While mom and boyfriend jeans were popular last year, it looks like a straight leg is a staple for this fall. 4. Feathers

I don’t quite know how much I can implement this trend in my daily life, being that I am in accounting every day and not on the streets of NYC, but I love it all the same. Feathers were made popular this season by Valentino, and I’m seeing them on sweaters and dresses everywhere. They’re so fun and an easy way to heighten any outfit.

5. Oversized Blazers

Blazers are arguably always in style, but lately, oversized, plaid blazers have been seen on every single fashion girl. I’ve seen them in every color combination paired with pants, dresses and skirts. I think they are a super versatile piece and everyone should have at least one in their closet.
