Campus Profile: Amber Rose Goemaat
Meet Amber Goemaat, she’s a sophomore at the University of Oregon and is your typical collegiate woman, sort of. Amber, like any other student, is very involved with her school work. She is majoring in Family Human Services and is double minoring Spanish and non-profit administration. On top of a full load of classes for her major and double minor, she is also very outgoing and independent as she continues to go after leadership positions on campus. Amber is a sorority woman and is a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority Alpha Phi chapter. This has allowed her to grow as a person and a leader. In the previous school year Amber served as the Vice President of Membership for her sorority, and this year she is serving as Vice President of Community Programming for the Panhellenic Council (PHC) here at University of Oregon.
Aside from thriving as a student and leader in her community, Amber has quite the hidden talent. You could say she has some tricks up her sleeve, considering that her hidden talent is that she loves performing magic tricks! Amber is a camp counselor at a summer camp in Bend, Oregon. A summer camp that she actually attended growing up as a kid, and is now a camp counselor. Her camp name is “Chuckles,” which is fitting because she loves to laugh and have a good time. She doesn’t like taking life or herself too seriously, which is why she enjoys the magic tricks. Three years ago while working at the summer camp Amber decided to learn some simple card tricks, to try and entertain the kids she was interacting with at camp. After learning a few simple magic card tricks she was hooked. The kids, who are young elementary school age, loved the magic tricks. She said she “loved watching the kids try and figure out how I did the trick, and seeing how excited they got made me love performing even more.” Amber enjoys being comical and this hidden talent really helps her break out of her shell, for entertaining the kids at camp or even bringing out as a fun party trick here at UO. All in all, Amber is one tricky lady.
