The ABC’s of Your Skin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

As girls, we’re pros at keeping a secret. Whether it’s a pesky pimple or an undereye giveaway that we
had a final this morning, there is a simple process in hiding anything we don’t want others to notice!
Before you think your face is doomed, just sing your ABC’s and you’ll be flawless once again before
you know it.

A = Apply
The first step in making your skin concern disappear is applying the correct concealer to your problem
area. Apply concealer only to the area you want to hide, such as right on the pimple or directly onto the undereye dark spots. These creams are thicker so you don’t want to use it all over your skin (there’s a reason they come in a smaller bottle). Use a concealer brush, this will help to make sure the product is even and exact. The most important thing is to make sure that the cosmetic is the right color. Replacing a red dot on your face with an orange one isn’t exactly helping your situation.

B=Blend
The next step is to blend everything you applied. Most people use their fingers and just rub it in like
lotion but this just spreads the product out to other areas so it doesn’t do a very good job. Again, using
a concealer brush is the way to go. Apply the product with one side and use the other side to blend it in, staying directly on the area you’re trying to hide. Use a pressing motion to help the concealer stick onto the skin and then a light downward sweeping motion to blend the edges into the area. When finished, you should not be able to tell where you put the concealer and what could be underneath it.

C= Camouflage
After you have your A & B down, it’s time for the last step, camouflaging. After concealer is done,
apply a liquid base or tinted moisturizer all over your face. This will blend with the concealer so you
won’t even know it’s there, but will be light enough that your skin can still breathe and it will give youan even canvas for when you start applying the rest of your makeup. Next is either a powder blush or bronzer to give your skin a healthy glow. Highlight your cheekbones, nose, crown of your forehead and a light sweep on your chin. This will also emphasize your beautiful bone structure rather than focusing on that annoying issue you had this morning. The end look should look natural, flawless and free of any worry for the rest of your day!
