There’s a breeze in the air, the finals weariness is easing up a bit, and there’s excitement in the air as we crawl out from the shadow of Winter. It can only mean one thing… Spring Break!
Whether you plan to travel or not, there are some movies that perfectly capture what spring break is about — and we’ve compiled a handy list for you. Make some room in your Netflix queue, because you’ll want to get these onto your list ASAP!
1. Jeepers Creepers
If you like slightly hokey horror movies, this is a great one to check out. It’s got some scares, some good music, and also one very important thing: Justin Long.
2. Jiro dreams of Sushi
If you love both sushi and real life stories about people trying to perfect their passion, this is a great story about an 85 year old sushi chef. Even if you don’t like sushi, this is still a very sweet story.
3. Mean Girls
Mean girls is always appropriate for viewing. If you haven’t seen it in a while — or even at all — spring break is the perfect time to get into this much beloved, and much quoted gem (You don’t even go here!)
4. There Will Be Blood
If you like movies with a little grit, you can’t ask for much more here. Based on a short play, this movie packs a lot of brilliant acting into small amount of your time.
5. Catching Fire
If you’re a Hunger Games fan, chances are you’ve already seen this movie and are preparing for the third and final movie. If you haven’t seen it, however, now’s the time to get caught up so that you can prepare for the final film.
6. Amelie
Sweet, quirky and romantic; Amelie will make smile every time.
7. Chico and Rita
If you don’t mind foreign or animated films, you’ll enjoy this Spanish piece about a singer, a pianist and their travels. The movie features lots of Jazz and Cuban music as well as insights into some aspects of Latin history.
8. A Knight’s Tale
Fun, Romantic, and light hearted. This is a great low fuss movie when you just want something nice to watch in the background. Bonus: Heath Ledger.
9. Jumanji
This may be a kid’s movie, but it’s still a fun and exciting adventure flick. How many of you wished you had the actual game as a kid? Minus the plants and lions trying to eat you, of course.
10. Sharknado
So bad, it’s good. A description won’t do it justice, so you’ll just have to trust us and dive on in.
