HC Oregon State: How did you first become involved with Chi Theta Phi?
Sydney: I heard about it through an email listserv and wanted to get involved. There were 20 girls to start with and the founders, Laura and Michelle, had a good vision.
HC Oregon State: What three words would you use to describe the sisterhood?
Sydney: I would say we are diverse, creative, and unique.
HC Oregon State: What are your duties as president of Chi Theta Phi?
Sydney: I work with the committee chairs to make sure everything is running smoothly. My Vice President and I run the chapter meetings. I try to serve as someone who people can come and talk to about the sorority and other ideas.
HC Oregon State: What are some other hobbies, clubs, or interests you enjoy?
Sydney: I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, drawing and doing graphic design projects for work or for fun.
HC Oregon State: How do you think being in Chi Theta Phi will help you with your career goals after graduation?
Sydney: I think I’ve learned a lot about working with and collaborating with people in other majors. It has helped with networking as well because of our focus on design. I have been able to see the many paths you can take with degrees in Design and Human Environment. It’s exciting to see what the smart and powerful girls of Chi Theta Phi will do with their majors, both while at school and after graduation.
