5 Places to Study When You’re Sick of the Library

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Let’s face it, the majority of us spend many days of our college career stuck in the library. The library is usually a great place to study, but sometimes we notice how productivity can hit an all time low. Sometimes we just get tired of being in the same place. If you’re looking to switch up your study space, consider these five locations on campus.

1. Fitzelle Hall

Fitzelle Hall offers three floors worth of places to study, whether you’d prefer an empty classroom, or a table/booth. Take advantage of their outside study area when the weather is nice. Fitz is also very convenient for collaboration due to their variety of large tables that make it easy to spread out work and any study materials.

2. Hunt Union

Whether you sit in the International Lounge outside of the Red Dragon Outfitters, outside of Starbucks, or down by the waterfront when the weather is nice, Hunt offers a nice, calm atmosphere. Computers and printers are also available if need be.

3. Starbucks in Hunt Union

If you’re looking to grab a quick bite or drink while you study, head on over to Starbucks. Starbucks has tables where many students bring their laptops and do their work.

4. Physical Science Building

Have you seen the newly renovated physical science building, yet? The inside of the building has a similar feel to Fitz. Apart from the science discovery center and organic chemistry and physics labs the building offers, there’s also a student commons which is a great study spot for students. Make sure you go check out and utilize this new facility!

5. Jazzman’s Cafe & Bakery

Jazzman’s is also another spot on campus where you can grab a quick bite while studying. Although this picture isn’t up-to-date, Jazzman’s offers a high top where students can sit and do work, along with comfortable chairs to relax in. If you’re sick of the library and don’t feel like walking far, step outside the library doors where Jazzman’s is located!
