The Ole Miss Tri Delta Chapter Visits St. Jude
By: Darby Radcliff
March is Tri Delta’s official St. Jude month, and recently, the Chi Chapter of the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity of Ole Miss visited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee to support their national chapter’s philanthropy.
At the chapter retreat, the Ole Miss Tri Delta girls were given tours of the facility, in which they were able to see the amazing effects of the efforts of Tri Delta chapters across the country, including the donation of the incredible Teen Room at the hospital that Tri Delta had raised $1 million for in 2005.
Tri Delta officially adopted St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its national philanthropic partner in 1999, and since then, the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity has been providing members the opportunity to unite in support of a children’s cancer charity and raise money and awareness for the hospital in a variety of ways.
One huge commitment that Tri Delta made for St. Jude was in 2006 when chapters across the nation made a commitment to raise $10 million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili’s Care Center. Successfully, by May 2010, Tri Delta met their $10 million fundraising goal in just four years.
Another commitment that Tri Delta has made for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a challenge to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at the children’s hospital.
The commitment was made in July 2010, and as of March 1, 2012, Tri Delta has raised over $5.7 million towards the $15 million campaign goal due to the strong commitment of the Tri Delta collegiate and alumnae members from around the nation.
