10 Reasons Why College Is Better Than Highschool

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Old Westbury chapter.

High school can either be the worst time or the best time for a teen, but most people can agree that college is normally a lot more fun than the dreaded puberty filled years. From the freedom – to the professors, college is a great time of self awakening and fun.

1. You pick your schedule! Hate Mondays or mornings? Don’t take classes on Monday or early in the AM.

2. You don’t have to ask permission to pee. Just be respectful and don’t disrupt class.

3. Professors truly get it. In high school teachers have a habit of falling into a routine that makes them less and less understanding, professors understand that their students are adults with jobs and other responsibilities.

4. Food is a little less gross. Not amazing but better, plus you have different places on campus to choose from.

5. There are literally thousands of possible new friends. There are a plethora of other people so you don’t have to hang out with the same group everyday if you don’t want to. One year you can make friends and by the next year you could have a totally different group of friends.

6. There are plenty of spots to chill. If you like to explore new places you are guaranteed to find some cool spots to just hang out with friends, or alone.

7. You have freedom. No more curfews or asking parents for permission to go out.

8. Parties. In high school there was probably one party every year that everyone looked forward too, in college there are parties literally every day and if you have your priorities right you can go to some.

9. More clubs to get involved in. You can join so many different clubs or even start one of your own.

10. Everyone is motivated and pursuing their dream. It is pretty cool to hear different reasons why others choose what career paths they want, and why. Everyone is chasing their dreams.
