Cinderella is Stepping Out of the Disney Vault Wearing Glass Slippers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo! And with a wave of a wand Disney’s classic Cinderella is released from the Disney vault. The last time was in 2008.

The Diamond Edition of the 1950 classic is coming to stores Oct. 2, and will be offered as a Blu-Ray combo pack or HD digital disc.

According to www.disney.go.com, the new edition will have new special features including a new Disney short entitled, Tangled Ever After, Behind the Magic: A New Disney Princess Fantasyland and an introduction by Diane Disney Miller.

“My little sister used to dress up as Cinderella, so I’m sure she would love to have the new edition with the new features for her next birthday,” freshman Laura-Ashley Stanton student says.

Disney has no set schedule for releasing their classics from the Disney vault. So it’s impossible for audiences to know when Cinderella will go back into the vault or how long it will be locked away before being released again.

Because the film will most likely only be available for a short time, many students are ready to jump on the opportunity to add the classic to their personal collection.

“I’m so excited that Cinderella is being released from the Disney vault,” says freshman Christine Walsh. “It hasn’t been available in a while so I didn’t get to bring a copy to college with me. I’m glad I’ll get to pick up a copy that I can watch in my dorm room with my friends.”

For those who cannot wait to re-live the magic of one of Disney’s most popular classics, the Diamond Edition can be pre-ordered on www.disney.go.com. The Diamond Edition will also be available at Wal-Mart beginning Oct. 2.
