6 Life Hacks for the Lazy College Girl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

As hard as we all try to deny it, there will always be a side of every motivated woman that would love to throw on a pair of sweats and be lazy all day long. Unfortunately, life expects you to put on real clothes and accomplish things. (Crazy, right?) But, who said you can’t do BOTH; fulfill daily responsibilities and continue out the lifelong dream of taking the easy way out. We put together a list of some helpful life hacks that will make you look like you have your life together, even if you don’t.

Food

1. Prepare for the week all at once. Meal planning is sworn all over the world wide web to save hours and dollar bills. Go to the grocery store at the beginning of the week and make bigger meals that you can pack for lunch, but will last during the week.

2. Mason Jars! Stored food stays healthy longer. Not only will the containers look much cuter in your kitchen (lazy girl décor), but the flavors will stay as well.

3. Use your microwave. As a struggling college student, I have learned to embrace all the wonderful things you can do in a microwave. Check out these yummy recipes if you need some inspiration. http://greatist.com/health/surprising-healthy-microwave-recipes

Hair

1. Two Words. DRY. SHAMPOO. I am a huge clean hair freak, so for a while, I was pretty reluctant to try it out. BUT I LOVE IT. I use it all the time, especially if I’m going out at night and I’ve had my hair down all day. It’s the BEST.

2. Wear a hat. There are SO many ways you can do you hair with a ballcap on. Wear your hair in a side braid, a low bun, or even the traditional pony. Get a few solid colored ones that go with everything and you’re set.

3. Rock that natural look. Who said you had to put heat or headbands in your hair to make it cute? NO ONE. Do you.

Makeup

1. Frame the face. If you only have a few minutes to get class, make sure you get your lip-gloss and mascara on. A little color here and there will make your natural look pop.

2. Don’t have time (or energy) to apply foundation? Pick up some tinted moisturizer at Target or Wal-Mart and keep it by your bedside for those emergency needs. You’ll even out your skin tone and get that minimum coverage that’s just enough for a day of classes.

3. Just like your hair, some days you just need to have a fresh face day. Be confident with your skin!

Clothes

1. BASIC TEES are total lifesavers. You can dress up a v-neck with a cute pair of printed shorts and sandals or dress it down with your favorite leggings and Nike’s.

2. As hard as dressing up during the week can be, if you need to look business casual or dressy for a night out with the girls a little black dress is the lazy girls go-to look. Wear it with a pair of black booties or wedges to top of the style.

3. Find YOUR pair of jeans. I’m a super cheap shopper but, sometimes you just need that pair of jeans that you splurge on a little. Have those jeans and your fav t-shirt as a back up option in case you wake up late for class and have to grab something you know you like.

Organization

1. Get a cute planner. I cannot stress this enough! Sit down once a week and plan out your days event by event, so that once you reach that stressful point in the week, you have nothing to worry about. (And you won’t have to plan every single day.)

2. Sticky notes are the best ever. I always write down little notes throughout the day to avoid forgetting the things I should have remembered in the first place. Get a couple cute packs, and it will make writing things fun and easy to do.

3. Buy one bag for ALL your supplies. Instead of throwing all of your pens and pencils in the bottom of your backpack, buy one adorable bag. You don’t have to spend 10 minutes sorting out all of your things, just make sure they stay in one place.

Workout

1. Working out as a lazy girl is the WORST. I never have the motivation to go to the gym, so I try to incorporate my workouts into my daily life as much as possible. At the beginning of the day I do some crunches and before bed I do jumping jacks, or something of the sorts. (Just enough to feel like I got my cardio in for the day.)

2. Run to other places. I personally hate treadmills because I feel like I’m, getting nothing done. So, I suggest jogging or walking around campus or to a local store to pick up something you might have forgotten the last time you went. Wear a fanny pack or light backpack if you need to.

3. WORKOUT WITH FRIENDS. I’m way too lazy to get up in the morning to go to a spin class or zumba session, but if I know that my friends are going too, I’ll drag myself out of bed!

No matter who you are, lazy or not, I highly suggest doing everything you can to relive some stress by using these shortcuts and tidbits of info! Being a successful lazy girl is totally doable.
