What To Expect at HallOUween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.
It is your first time experiencing the crazed scene of Athen’s Halloween block party; you’ve heard the stories, but still you’re not quite sure what to anticipate (like having to wear a wristband all weekend). That’s how I was my freshman year, and after experiencing it firsthand I can tell you it will be unlike anything you have ever seen.
On October 26, Court Street will be blocked off with three huge stages; one at the corner of Court and Union, one at Court and East State, and a new one placed in the parking lot between Lucky’s and Attractions Salon deemed solely for costume judging. The music supplied by the remaining two stages provides entertainment in the rawest of forms. In the heart of Court Street will be a mass amount of dressed up, unimaginably friendly, inebriated people. Even if you’re sober, the numerous bodies fill Uptown with an intoxicating feel. It’s easy to get lost in the sea of strangers and staying with friends is a lesson I’ve learned on multiple occasions. It is never acceptable to be alone, especially on a night as crazy as HallOUween. With the flood of people in Athens odds are there will be no cell service. So although you’re experiencing a totally new atmosphere, and it may seem inviting to disappear by yourself, I beg of you to stay near and dear to your friends at all times and not to depend on your cell phone for communication. It’s going to let you down.
The Halloween block party should be a time to enjoy yourself and the company of others. It isn’t a time to get wild and blacked out; you’re going to want to remember this! Taking pictures is a must, dressing up is a must, and taking a stroll, even for a little peek, on Court Street is an absolute must. Go check out the scene for yourself and pass down what experiences it provided you! We’re ranked to have a pretty awesome party scene, and if you’re worried, don’t be! Cops will be patrolling on horses to prevent anything from getting too out of control. But keep in mind not to pet the horses unless police officers give you permission…
Best of luck. Have fun and be safe bobkittens!
