Kimberly Kramer Trobek

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

Kimberly Kramer Trobek, Class of ‘95

“You take a little piece of OU with you when you leave and a little piece of your heart stays in Athens.”

What degree did you receive?

Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Psychology.

What are you doing now?

 I’m a licensed Massotherapist and a Paymaster at a contractor’s.

What made you choose Ohio University?

I had wanted to become a physical therapist and it was one of the few schools offering that program.  Plus, I fell in love with the campus the first time I saw it.

Where did you live while attending OU?

Freshman year I lived in Treudley, which was an all-girls dorm (at the time). Sophomore year I lived on the haunted floor in Wilson Hall. Junior year, I lived at The College Inn (now Bromley), and my senior year I lived at the Lakeview apartments (now River Park).

What is your favorite OU memory?

I loved all my friends I made at school.  They can make your memories all the sweeter of a place that helped raise you into the adult that you will become.  Also, I really liked all the psych studies and dissections in my labs (how many people can say they have touched a human brain?!).

Have you been to OU since you graduated?

I went back in 2000 for Homecoming Weekend and then in 2012 when I took my niece for a college visit.

What’s your favorite Uptown spot?

I loved Wings and Rings (extra wet, please!) (This is now the Cat’s Den Saloon). And of course, the Burrito Buggy.  The uptown theater Athena was always a fun place to catch a movie.

What do you miss most?

All the free activities and bands that would play weekly.  The campus in the spring was beautiful with all the blossoming trees. Studying outside on the green and getting some sun was a favorite activity.

Did you have a job on campus?

I worked at the college inn as a night desk secretary.

Do you have any advice for Ohio University freshmen?

Go out and enjoy everything you can.  You don’t have to wait on roommates or suitemates. Find a club or activity that interests you and meet people that way.  Most of the friends you will keep in touch with over the years will be the ones you made freshman year.  Live your life to the fullest, reinvent yourself, learn and mature into the well-rounded adult that you were meant to be.

How about the seniors?

Look back and see if there was something you always wanted to do at OU and do it (paint the wall, sled ride down Jeff Hill, etc).  This is the last time in your life that you will not have responsibilities such as house payments, children, and loan payments.  So create that OU bucket list and get it done.  Oh yeah and look at an internship, I think that would have been very helpful in my career search.
