Fall Dates in Athens

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

1.     Share your love of OU at a football game!

Whether you go as a group or pair, a football game is a sure fire way to heat up your night! Show your school spirit by dressing in green and white and impressing your date! Stand up and cheer for your Bobcats and if you don’t understand a part of the game, it’s a great way to fix awkward first date silences or breaks in the conversation. When it starts to cool off, share a cup of hot chocolate and on your walk home, hide from the brisk air with cuddles and a goodbye hug.

2.     Get spooky at the Ridges!

October is one of the best months to be at Ohio University (what month isn’t?) since we are considered the most haunted campus in America! Take a hike up the hills of Athens and tour the old insane asylum and cemeteries that make up our haunted pentagon of a campus. Getting scared is the perfect opportunity to jump into your date’s arms.

3.     Participate in a local fun run or a 5K!

This one is for the true athletes in us. Guys like a girl who isn’t afraid to sweat, so take this as a chance to bet your guy (and win!) a milkshake or Big Mama’s Burrito for completing the race. Studies show that working out together creates a closer bond, so get to running!

(Check out the costume 5K, Halloween Hustle, on October 25th for a great time helping two amazing charities. Join the Facebook page HERE)

4.     Tend to your taste buds!

Sometimes a nice dinner is all we need (and want) for a cute date. For those lucky enough to have Flex Points, Latitude 39 in Baker Center offers a sit down meal with a quieter atmosphere that won’t have you breaking the bank. For those older Bobcats, Zoe Fine Dining on E. State Street offers a calming atmosphere and drinks away from the crowded bars on Court. Zoe offers dinner and desserts to give you a rest from fast food and late ramen noodles. Check out these two hot spots and enjoy a romantic, intimate evening with your date.

5.     Pick a pumpkin!

Find a pumpkin to carve or paint (look at the Athens Farmer’s Market or local grocery store) and spend alone time with your man. Compete to see who has the best carving skills or most creative jack-o-lantern! Cook and season the pumpkin seeds for a salty snack while admiring your job well done. If carving isn’t your style (or unable to happen), painting the pumpkin is a cute alternative. Anything pumpkin (including the newly available Pumpkin Spice Latte) is a fun fall treat to share with those closer ones. Happy picking!
