The internet has changed the way we shop. With all of it’s benefits and advantages, online shopping is becoming increasingly popular these days. Many consumers prefer surfing through the cyber mall over actually leaving bed and going to the real mall for many reasons, but below are just a few.

You get better prices!

It’s a known fact that online sales are better than the sales in stores, and they last longer. From BOGO to spending a certain amount and getting a free item, the possibilities for sales are endless. Also, many online stores offer discount coupons and rebates!

It’s convenient!

Shopping in your pajamas? YES PLEASE! The main reason to online shop is so you can shop in the comfort of your own house and in whatever you want and at anytime you want.

No shopping assistants!

If you’re like me, you do not like having second opinions when it comes to shopping. If I want it, I am going to buy it. Don’t get me wrong, I have no trouble asking a sales associate for help, but when they start to hover and throw in their opinions, I am unattracted.

You can always find your size!

If your size isn’t in stores, it’s almost guaranteed to be online. No more, “We don’t have your size at this location, but you can try this one 20 miles away.” Chances are even if they don’t have it online, you can be alerted via email when it’s back in stock.

There’s more variety!

There are always so many more options online than there are in stores (Which can be a pro or a con depending on how indecisive you are!) When I go out, I always feel limited to what’s in the store, forgetting that they may have more colors/sizes online!

One word: crowds!

On holiday sales, having people running, screaming, pushing, and shoving around me is a no go. It not only makes me anxious, but I can’t focus on what I actually came to shop for. Another amazing part of online shopping is that most of the same sales are online, so you can avoid the crowds and rack up on your online shopping cart.

While there are some disadvantages like, not being able to try the clothes on and having to wait for them, there are so many more advantages to shopping online. The cyber mall opens to door to stores you’d never have access to otherwise. One of my favorites is a boutique based in California Lulu’s. Heck, you can buy clothes from Europe online from sites like boohoo.com! They even have online thrift stores now like, thredup.com and swap.com, the variety just keeps expanding. If you’re nervous about buying clothes on the internet just give it a shot. There is no reward without a little risk and you can always return the items if they don’t work out!

Hi everyone, I'm Petra (PEE-truh) and I'm an ODU alumna who has branched out to sunny Southern California. Following graduation, I didn't have too much of a plan for where I was going in life but I knew to stay in Virginia was not an option. I wanted more than what was offered there so I started applying to almost every job in all my dream cities and life led me to San Diego. I now do sales, marketing and social media management for a great startup company, Voterfied. I love everything about San Diego and the work I'm doing here. So my advice to everyone, get out of your comfort zone! Take that leap of faith and let life guide you to exactly where you're meant to be. HCXO, Petra!
