The phenomenon of “the girl crush” has been circulating the globe for as long as anyone can remember. English women back in the 1500s probably wanted to be Queen Elizabeth just as badly as ninety-percent of the female population wants to be Jennifer Lawrence today. And no, it’s not just because both were rich and famous; there are plenty of women like that who aren’t nearly as admired (take your pick). It takes a certain kind of girl do be deemed “crushable”, and here’s a profile of some bonafide girl crushes walking around campus.

HC NYU: Who are your personal girl crushes and why?TL:Vanessa Hudgens, for sure. She just seems so chill. She has this way about her that makes you want to be her best friend. Maybe even Blake Lively, too, since she’s just perfect in every way.
HC NYU: What attracts you to said girl crushes?TL: Both ladies are gorgeous, have amazing style (in their own right), a hot boyfriend or husband, and an unlimited wardrobe fund. Need I say more?
HC NYU: What personality traits do you view as constituting a girl crush?TL: A positive attitude. As I’m growing up and learning more about myself, I think it’s so important to be positive and always find the silver lining in bad situations. We can’t have good without bad. And I’m a big believer in karma. My best friend said it best: “Give out good energy and you’ll receive that good energy right back. And then some.” You’ve also got to be able to laugh at yourself. Don’t take things too seriously.
HC NYU: Are there any popular attributes today that people view as admirable you you yourself disagree with?TL: People seem to think there’s this set in stone definition to “having it all.” I don’t think the end goal of life should be to “have it all” because you’ll always be chasing something you might not be able to attain. Be happy with what you have, and anything else that comes your way is a bonus. If you’re happy, you already have it all.
HC NYU: Do you have a moment in your life of which you’re particularly proud of?TL: I know it’s kind of cliché, but getting into NYU is my biggest accomplishment. I transferred in last spring, and I can honestly say I never worked harder for something in my life. It was the first time I ever really worked for something and benefitted from it so greatly. It helped me develop the work ethic I have today.
HC NYU: I’ve also noticed you wear healing crystals. How does the concept of intrinsic health affect your life on a regular basis?TL: I do! For me, the crystals are more of a reminder to be positive. It sounds weird, but that’s just me. A lot of people believe they have healing powers, but I’m not like that. As for everything else, I make sure I do at least two hours a week of yoga, and strongly believe in the effects of aromatherapy. Lavender, rose, and eucalyptus are my favorites! And, of course, I love green tea, especially after a long day. It has this amazing calming effect on me.
