We all know homecoming season can be expensive. From the tickets for the events to the new outfits you might want to buy, but as college students, most of us need to save our coins Here are 7 ways you can save money during this homecoming season..
Don’t buy tickets to every event. Why? Because you don’t have to go to every single homecoming event, especially if you don’t want to or it just simply isn’t in your budget. If you do want to go to all the events and your school offers homecoming bundles or packages they are usually cheaper than buying all the tickets separate from each other.
You don’t have to go broke trying to buy new outfits for every event. Don’t buy new outfits, if you don’t necessarily need them. Buy articles of clothing or accessories that will go with some of the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. This can save you a lot of money, one outfit can go up to $100 or more especially around this season.
If you really do want to buy whole outfits, go straight to the sale section and save yourself the disappointing feeling of finding something you like and not being able to pay for it.
Don’t always eat out The money you spend on food adds up. I know a lot of you don’t want to but — EAT AT THE CAFE, EAT THE FOOD ON CAMPUS. Eating out seems nice and all until the $5 dollar drive thru turns into $50 dollars in the span of a week.
Save gas! If you are going out to other places during homecoming week whether it be a party or an event, CARPOOL. Don’t uber in separate cars if you can ride with a friend. You’ll save money and you’ll be safer with someone you know. If you do have to take an Uber or a Lyft, don’t go alone. You never know what may happen.
Be safe this homecoming season and stay aware of your surroundings, you never know what might happen. Remember, school is your main priority, homecoming is fun and all but it’s not something you should sacrifice your grades & hommework time. Homecoming is temporary but GPA is not.
