Everyone has days when they feel a little less than 100%. I often find that there’s nothing better than a song to bring my spirits back up. We’re talking full-blown strutting down the street, resting bitch face in place: it’s a scene from an action movie and you’re the hero. Luckily, here at Her Campus Nottingham, we have the soundtrack. Whether you need a song to remind you how flawless you are, or an anthem to blast away the awfulness of dealing with other people, we’ve got you covered – without further ado, The Ultimate Badass Playlist!

1. Beyoncé – Flawless

It wouldn’t be an empowerment playlist without a bit of Queen B, and there’s nothing quite as good as ‘Flawless’ for feeling on top of the world. Check out the rest of the album- you won’t regret it.

2. Britney Spears – Work Bitch

Sometimes we all need a little push to stop procrastinating and start actually doing something. I know for certain this was on repeat during the week up to my last deadline. This one is 100% a gym jam as well.

3. Hi Fashion – Amazing

This song is probably a lot less well known but it doesn’t make it by any means any less badass. An anthem that basically just says ‘yeah, your judging really doesn’t bother me’, it’s an essential for the list.

4. JbDubs – F*** ‘Em All

Far blunter than the song before, this song is catchy as hell and I’ll give you a fair warning: you might start singing it in lessons and getting very bizarre looks. This is a particularly good one if you want to release those frustrated feelings (though the dancing in the video will make you so jealous of their talent that you’ll get frustrated all over again).

5. Janelle Monae & Erykah Badu – Q.U.E.E.N

Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu are queens in their own right so it’s only fair that their song should be of the same name. Little pub quiz fact: Janelle mentioned in an interview that each of the letters represents a marginalised group. If that’s not badass, we don’t know what is.

6. Adore Delano – I Look Fuckin’ Cool

It’s pretty obvious what this one is about but I absolutely love it and it 100% deserves a place on this list. Any Ru Paul’s Drag Race fan will recognise the singers in this one.

7. 2NE1 – I’m The Best

There’s no better way to end this list than on 2NE1’s classic – ‘I’m The Best.’ I mean, it’s not even in English but the amount of views alone that this video has stacked up speaks volumes.

At the end of the day, these are just a few of the many amazingly empowering songs out there. Make sure to add your suggestions in the comments below!
