Gift Guide: The Perfect Perfume For…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

So Christmas is nearly upon us (I know, where has this term gone?!) and you’re probably starting to realise you should have started your Christmas shopping weeks ago. Well, there’s no need to panic as here’s my guide to the perfect perfume for all the people in your life. Perfume makes a great present as it’s thoughtful and personal (but doesn’t require as much effort as trawling through Ebay searching for something really niche!). Shopping online for perfumes can save you quite a bit of time and money but it’s always worth popping into Boots to check you actually like the smell of it before you buy!

So here is the perfect perfume for ….

Your sophisticated older sister:   Lacoste ‘Touch of Pink’

This perfume is one of my favourites with a really stylish and fresh scent, perfect for the day and the evening. The pink bottle adds a touch of fun to this fragrance which Lactose describes as having a sense of ‘youthful optimism.’

Your best friend : Marc Jacobs ‘Daisy’

Since launching ‘Daisy’ in 2001, Marc Jacobs now has four female perfumes to his name. They are all light and girly and make a perfect gift for your bestie. The most recent, ‘Honey’ is a personal favourite, but you can’t go wrong with the original ‘Daisy’ with its cute floral bottle.

Your cool older cousin: Diesel: ‘Loverdose’

This perfume has a sexy, playful scent which your cousin will love. I love the tilted heart shaped bottle. For something a little less girly, try the spin off ‘Loverdose Tattoo’ which comes in a black bottle.

Your younger sister: Taylor Swift ‘Wonderstruck’

Taylor Swift now has three perfumes to her name – ‘Wonderstruck’ is the original, released in 2011 followed my ‘Wonderstruck Enchanted’ and most recently ‘Taylor’. I really like the ornate box that ‘Wonderstruck’ comes in and this is sure to keep your lil’ sis happy and smelling gorgeous.

Your mum: Chanel No. 5

This is the iconic perfume, launched in 1921. It’s a classic floral scent which your mum will love. It’s been endorsed by countless celebrities –from Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s to Brad Pitt in 2012. And who can forget Baz Luhrmann’s lavish No 5 The Film starring Nicole Kidman? As timeless as giving a bunch of flowers, this perfume will sure to make your mum smile on Christmas day.

Your 13-year-old cousin:  One Direction ‘Our Moment’

1D’s first perfume (of many, I’m sure) was released this summer and much to Directioners’ dismay it went on sale in America first. It’s what you’d typically expect from a perfume for tweenage girls – a bit sickly sweet but it’s better than many others out there. The box alone is enough to make any Directioner scream in delight and with a pocket-money friendly price tag go ahead and make their day/year.

Merry Christmas!
