The leaves have fallen and snow looms on the horizon. I bet a lot of people are really sad about this, but as someone who loves cold weather fashion this is always a welcomed happening. Spring and summer are full of fun colors and cute sun dresses, but I personally love the cozy sweaters and boots that come with fall and winter all the same. Having a closet of versatile cold weather pieces is a great way to get you through the season while being festive and fun! With Christmas just around the corner here are some ideas to not only up your wardrobe, but some ideas are great for gifts too!

Turtlenecks:

This is the first on my list because it is hands down my favorite. Turtlenecks may have been on the outs for a while, but let me tell you, they are most definitely back in. You can go with the traditional turtleneck, fitted or you can go with a more modern cowl neck for turtleneck beginners. Both are equally as cozy.

This cozy one is available at Zara

Quilted Vest:

Chances are you have seen at least 12+ girls and guys wearing one of these around campus, but rightfully so. These bad boys go great over sweaters or plain long sleeve shirts. They add a level of warmth and style you can’t really find anywhere else. The lighter ones also fit great under jackets if you wanted to go for a layering look.

Find the classic at J. Crew

Corduroys (Cords for short):

I remember wearing cords when I was 6 years old and hating them, but I now 100% regret this decision because it was definitely misinformed. Cords are actually awesome! They are super comfortable now that most brands include spandex into the material and are a great alternative to jeans. You can find them in great fall/winter colors that enhance your festive style.

This more relaxed pair can be found at Uniqlo

Sweater Dresses:

I cannot stress enough how much I love sweater dresses. I can honestly say I like sweater dresses more than sun dresses, GASP! They are the perfect combination of comfy and cool. Pair them with a pair of knee high boots and tights and you will be the epitome of chic. There are so many new styles of them these days so you can definitely find one that best fits your style.

I am a big fan of this one from Gap

Heeled Booties:

Ever want to know how to make your classic jeans, sweater and boots combo a little classier? Switch out the knee high boots for a shorter pair of heeled booties. They go great with cords and even sweater dresses. You can dress them up or down depending on where you want to go. They are just a great piece to keep in your closet all year round.

Blanket Scarf:

When it gets cold, you want to be warm. A blanket scarf is the perfect accessory to stay super warm while being incredibly fashionable. The oversized look has been encroaching on the fashion world for a while now and it has not taken over all accessories. I am personally a sucker for the plaid ones because they are the classics.
