This week, early action admission decisions were released. This means that seniors in high school all around the world just received an acceptance letter to our wonderful school. Just a few years ago, we were all in their same position. I know I was so excited to be able to go to school here and know how fortunate I am to be here now. Though finals may be stressful and the weather may be cold and unfavorable, we are extraordinarily blessed to attend this university. Here are some reasons why we should feel lucky to call Notre Dame our home.
The academics. Through all the pain that is finals week, it is hard to remember what a wonderful opportunity we have to receive an education here. We go to a school that is consistently ranked as one of the top in the country. Classes may be hard, but the challenge is worth it.
The Notre Dame name. This is an amazing place that can set people up for success. The alumni network of this school is insane. Notre Dame alumni are very involved in the school long after they graduated. Between donations, networking, and job opportunities, alums have helped out current students in more ways than are even imaginable. Going to such a respectable, well-known university will help you go far in life. Notre Dame has some pretty cool people.
The community. Notre Dame is HUGE on building community. Notre Dame wants everyone to feel at home, and the dorm system is the quintessential example of this. Whenever you meet someone else from Notre Dame, the first question they ask you is, “What dorm are you in?” It is a part of who you are on this campus. With the dorms, you get all of the benefits of being a part of Greek life without having to do any of the work. You have a wonderful, tight-knit community right in front of you that you are able to join. In addition to dorms, there are countless clubs and other groups that make every person feel a part of something greater. Notre Dame wants their students to always feel welcome.
The sports. Notre Dame is a football school. Or a basketball school. Or a fencing school. No matter what title you want to give us, we have a top sports program where we get to experience the excitement of having a lot of successful teams. The student section at sporting events is always super exciting. Everyone here is proud to be Irish and is not afraid to show it.
The Dome. No matter how terrible the weather is, the dome will always shine. The view driving up ND Ave is one that is hard to beat. Even the rest of campus is beautiful. We have all of these great quads, relatively good dining halls, and a few new buildings that add to our campus even more. And you can’t forget about touchdown Jesus.
Hopefully this list makes you glad you chose to make your home one under the dome and realize how truly awesome it is to be here.
