After the game this weekend, I was in desperate need of a health cleanse, and I figured some of you might be in the same boat. Although it may seem like there’s a McDonald’s or Burger King on every block, over the past two years I’ve found a few healthier alternatives to satisfy your health food cravings. Therefore, I decided to do us all a favor and provide a list of the best healthy restaurants in the South Bend area.

CoreLife Eatery

I discovered CoreLife last year and my life was changed forever. I’m not exaggerating. . . well, maybe a little. Nevertheless, CoreLife allows you to choose one of their signature salads, rice bowls or grain bowls. However, if none of those seem appealing to you, you can also customize your own meal, choosing from an assortment of different vegetables, dressings, and more.

P.S. the sweet potatoes are a must.

Simply Pressed

Discovering Simply Pressed was also a game-changer. They have endless smoothie options, juices, acai bowls, salads and oatmeal. Some fan favorites are the Pistachio Oatmeal Cookie smoothie, Banana Bread smoothie, Kale No smoothie, Sweet Green juice and the classic Acai Bowl.

Down to Earth

A little bit further away but honestly worth the trip. Down to Earth is a super cute organic market in Mishawaka. There are endless options for your grocery shopping needs, as well as a mini cafe with different smoothies, juices and sandwiches if you’re looking for a quick snack.

Whole Foods

How could I not include the mothership itself. They put the holiness in whole food. I mean. . . who doesn’t love Whole Foods? If I could eat at their food bar every night I 100% would. Plus, there are countless free food samples around the store, so if you’re trying to save money you could just do that instead.

Purple Porch Co-Op

For all you vegans out there, this one’s for you. Similar to Down to Earth, Purple Porch is a small organic market with a variety of healthy options. Each day they have a signature meal, including vegan tacos, vegan burgers and, of course, a salad bar. Plus it’s only a five-minute drive!

It’s gainz szn baby.

My name is Tuesday Ford and I'm a Political Science major with a minor in Middle Eastern studies at Notre Dame. I'm from a small town outside of Boston, MA. I love traveling, hanging with friends/family, world politics, everything to do with Boston sports (Tom Brady is GOAT) and I am so excited to be a part of Her Campus ND!
