With Spring almost upon us, it’s time for some spring cleaning… of your music library, that is! Nothing welcomes a new season like a new playlist, and luckily for us there’s no shortage of great new music. Here’s a small sampling of what’s to come:

Imagine Dragons: Smoke + Mirrors

We’re all aware that Imagine Dragons are capable of cranking out immensely catchy and intense songs, and Smoke + Mirrors is set to give us several more. This album will be available February 17, but until then listen to a preview here. My pre-favorites: “Gold” and “Smoke + Mirrors.”

Madonna: Rebel Heart

This will be Madonna’s 13th album, but she shows no signs of slowing down. Rebel Heart promises to be as danceable as Madonna’s past albums and she even collaborated with Common and Mike Tyson (who knew Mike Tyson was a musician?) She performed at the Grammy’s last Sunday, singing “Living for Love” with some bizarre horned dancers, then released three singles off the album shortly after. We have to wait until March 10 for this one, but several tracks are readily available on Madge’s Youtube page.

Brandi Carlile: The Firewatcher’s Daughter

Brandi is back with another full-length album of spot-on harmonies and emotional lyrics. What’s special about this one is that Carlile took a more rock-n-roll approach in lieu of her usual folksy style, but the singer-songwriter made room for the quieter tracks as well. I recently heard “The Eye,” and can’t wait to hear more!

Death Cab for Cutie: Kintsugi

Although Death Cab’s founding member Chris Walla has left the building, the show must go on! In my unbiased opinion, Death Cab for Cutie is one of the greatest indie rock bands in the history of indie rock bands, so I have high expectations for this one. The band has been pretty quiet about their upcoming release, but they did recently release “Black Sun.” Kintsugi will be released at the end of March, and will be the last album featuring founder Chris Walla (*tear*).

Happy listening!
