Spring Break Essentials: How to Wow on the Beach

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

It’s that time already: Spring Break! Even though we’re still getting snow in South Bend, it’s time to break out those cute bikinis and go on a luxurious trip with your friends. Don’t know exactly what to pack? Look no further! Check out this list of cute clothing essentials that will get you ready to be a bronzed beauty on the beach (or wherever you decide to spend your break)!

1. A cute, cutout one-piece

I recently went shopping and got a knockout black one-piece. I can’t wait to wear it on the beach this summer. I’m personally not going anywhere tropical this spring break, but if you are, feel free to add one to your tote. The high cut on the hips is super flattering for anyone, and you can make it sexier by getting one with cutouts or lace. Ooh la la!

2. Off-the-shoulder crop top

Ever since I was a little girl and saw Belle in Beauty and the Beast wearing her famous off-the-shoulder golden gown, I’ve been a fan of this trend. There are so many ways to wear this look. You can get pastel and flowy shirts or go for an edgier look by wearing one of these tops in black, gray, or army green. Pair it with some high-waisted shorts and you’re bound to get some looks on the beach!

3.Two-piece top and shorts set

This is perhaps my favorite trend this spring. I love little sets, whether it’s a tiny top and shorts or a skirt in a matching pattern. I’ve seen some Aztec patterns out a few times, but pastel florals are really making a splash. Get ready to be admired by your crew! They’ll wanna know exactly where you got yours.

4. Lace-up sandals

These sandals are bound to make you look like a Greek goddess, and you deserve to feel like one! A brown pair will go with any outfit or bikini you wear. Feeling a little daring? Buy a pair that laces all the way up to your knee and wear a flowy pair of shorts to elongate those gorgeous legs. It’s the best way to show off your leg day gains.

5. Straw hat

Nothing says “relaxed” like a wide-brimmed straw hat. If you go to a store like Madewell, you can get a cute saying embroidered on it. I’m thinking something like, “Feeling peachy”.

6. Statement sunglasses

Top fashion bloggers everywhere are rocking this trend for spring/summer. Whether you love the John Lennon look or are looking for a pair of aviators to match your bomber, oversized statement sunglasses are necessary to have an amazing spring break. I love the ones that have the reflective quality!

7. Oversized beach bag

You’re definitely going to need a place to keep your sunscreen, Vogue, water bottle, and flip flops. Why not get a bag and carry them in style?

8. Light wash denim high-waisted shorts

Will they ever go out of style? I hope not!! This style is flattering on all ladies. Be sure to grab them in stores while you can before they’re sold out. Look for a vintage fabric that feels already lived in. You will get so much satisfaction from the feeling of comfy shorts on your relaxing vacation!

9. Sunscreen

Tanning might sound good when you’re young, but you have to do it the right way. You don’t want wrinkles and spots when you’re older! My favorite low-end sunscreen is Neutrogena while my high-end pick would be Lancome Bienfait SPF 50+. Both feel incredibly light on your skin so your pores don’t get clogged.

10. A fun water bottle

I’m obsessed with my new hot pink water bottle that says “Sippin’ and Chillin’” on it. Honestly, if I could buy every S’well bottle out there, I would. People will be envious of your gorgeous skin AND your cute bottle!

Hold on tight, ladies! We don’t have much longer until Spring Break is here. Be sure to tag us in your adorable Instagram pictures wearing your essentials. You’re going to be a total beach babe!! XOXO
