Spring Break Destination: San Juan, Puerto Rico

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Are you still searching for the perfect spring break destination? Well, if you are like me, then you want to find the sunshine and beach! Your trip to Miami, back in January, just seems too far behind you. Your tan has faded and all you really need is the perfect bikini and a plane ticket south. Good thing I have the perfect destination for you to consider!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Book your ticket now while they are affordable. You can escape from the cold blizzards of South Bend and head to the luxurious resorts in San Juan. Stay at La Concha, a Renaissance resort.  La Concha offers chic accommodations located right next to the ocean. You will feel like you are in paradise. Perla is San Juan’s signature seashell shaped, floating restaurant designed by the world renowned architect Mario Salvatori. Additionally, there is a casino and a pool with waterfalls that puts Niagra Falls to shame.

If the pristine white-sand beaches are not convincing enough for you, there are many other beautiful attractions lining the 500-year-old cobblestone streets of San Juan. These attractions include the Bacardi Rum Distillery, Plaza Los Americas (the largest mall in the Caribbean), and the Santurce Marketplace. Once the day turns to night, there are plenty of restaurants from which to choose. Popular choices, such as the following, exhibit European cuisines and also incorporate pure Caribbean recipes: Aguaviva, Ajili Mojili, Al Dente, Baires, and Amadeus.

Territory status doesn’t mena that Puerto Rico lacks luxurious destinations. The tropical island life and the boutique stores are the perfect combination for a week away, allowing you to bask in pure bliss and sunshine. There is an endless amount of tourist attractions for the adventurous person, but there are also many “hidden gem” beaches for those of you who prefer to catch up on the latest magazines or just relax sleep. So, my recommendation for you is to pick five days – perfect spring break trip length — buy plane tickets before they get too pricey, make a hotel reservation, and GO! Don’t hesitate because this Travel Channel destination may easily become your new favorite college spring break destination.
