Whether we like it or not, colder weather is coming. It seems like just a week ago we were enjoying the sun and weren’t even thinking about wearing jackets. Oh wait! That was just a week ago! Gotta love South Bend weather. Now, the cold weather has hit hard, putting us in a bit of a downer. What’s a common activity to do on a rainy day? Watch a movie. And, lucky for us, some of the best, most romantic movie scenes happen in the rain, which is starting to become pretty common this time of year. So when the permacloud has got you down, here is a list of movies with some of the best, most romantic kisses in the rain, and we can all hope together that something romantic like this will happen to us soon.
Spider-Man
In this superhero movie, our girl Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) goes out in the rain and kisses her love and favorite hero, Spider-man (Tobey Maguire) while he hangs upside down just like a spider. A little twist on your classic heartfelt kiss just adds to an action-packed superhero movie that always leaves you feeling invincible.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Though this movie may be old, it is truly a good one. In this classic, Audrey Hepburn’s character receives a rainy, passionate kiss from her love interest after they found her lost cat. These two have had a long journey, and this finally bring them together. And she now has both her cat and her man. Can’t get much better than that.
The Notebook
Whenever I think of a kiss in the rain, this is what I picture. Rachel McAdams dramatically leaps into Ryan Gosling’s arms as the two of them finally get together in a rain storm in a beautiful field. The epitome of Nicholas Sparks scenes. McAdams and Gosling are so amazing and cute together all throughout this movie, and this scene just proves that. The book’s author Nicholas Sparks graduated from Notre Dame (1988), giving you all the more reason to watch this movie.
A Cinderella Story
2000’s icons Chad Michael Murray and Hilary Duff star in a movie that turns your childhood Cinderella dreams into a reality that culminates in a kiss in the rain at a high school football game. We follow Sam (Duff) as she works hard at the diner and in school to follow her dreams, escape her evil stepmother, and finally get her man. Isn’t it every girl’s dream to kiss the cute quarterback?
Step Up 2
As a person who cannot dance for the life of me, I am beyond impressed with all of the dancing in this movie. I aspire to be these people. So when two super cool dancers finally realize their feelings for each other and get together, I get excited. Imagine it: you have just finished a mind-blowing dance number, and then you turn around and kiss your man in the rain. That’s a pretty good feeling, and it is heart-warming to witness.
