How To Bring Some Spring Into Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

After a long and dreary winter, it looks like spring may finally be on the horizon! This week, it seems that almost every Notre Dame student has been embracing the sun and the improving weather. I’ve come up with a few more ways to bring some spring into your dorm, your wardrobe, and your life.

Get Some Greenery

Flowers and plants are a great place to bring some life into a dorm room. I bought my new succulent friends at CVS, but you could also choose a bright bouquet of flowers. It’s both a great way to treat yourself and something that will cheer you up the moment you walk through your door.

Open Your Curtains

We’re all a little vitamin D deficient about this time of year. Now that the permacloud is starting to dissipate, letting your room flood with natural light is a huge mood booster.

Work Some Spring Into Your Wardrobe

Spring is the perfect time to embrace your boho side with floral prints and flowy silhouettes, as well as a great time to rock some pastel Easter egg shades. I know I tend to wear mostly black and dark tones in the fall and winter, so breezy shapes and light colors are definitely a breath of fresh air.

Wear A Pair of Slip on Sneakers

Slip on sneakers are having a major moment this spring, and they’re a fantastic option if you want something cute and comfortable. Since the weather in South Bend is temperamental and still a bit chilly, these shoes are a great stepping stone between boots and sandals while still embracing a spring vibe.

Make A Spring Playlist

Music is a great mood setter, and it’s always nice to walk to class to the tune of a happy, sun-soaked playlist. Acoustic guitar and upbeat indie tunes are always my go-to, but whatever your genre preference, your own soundtrack will help you usher in spring.

Spring Clean Your Room

This one is very cliché, but for a reason. This season is the perfect time to go through your life and unload everything you’ve accumulated and don’t need. It’s even more appropriate because the semester’s end is fast approaching (what?!), and a spring cleaning will take some of the hassle out of move-out day.
