‘Tis the season! No, not Christmas season, spooky season! It’s the time of year when everybody eats too much candy and scares all of their friends–a time filled with cute costumes and cool haunted houses. My favorite part of Halloween is making jack-o’-lanterns because there are a variety of designs available and creating them provides a fun way to decorate your house or apartment for Halloween. Here are some ideas for jack-o’-lanterns that everybody can do and enjoy:

Happy Face

Halloween may be a spooky time of year, but there’s no reason why we can’t have fun with the season. A happy jack-o’-lantern is sweet, simple and won’t scare away any kids.

Surprised Face

Since Halloween’s typical saying is ‘’trick or treat,’’ you get one or the other. A surprised jack-o’-lantern shows the face that any of us might make when we get a trick. Maybe your house got TP’d or a monster steals your candy. No matter what the trick is, a surprised face is the way to go.

Scary Face

On the topic of tricks, Halloween would not be complete without some really scary jack-o’-lanterns. The scary faces can be fun to make and can be anything from angry glares to menacing smiles. Warning: kids scare easily so keep them away from the scary jack-o’-lanterns.

Ghost

Nothing says “Halloween” like a ghost. Ghosts can be nice like Casper The Friendly Ghost or mean like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. Either way, ghosts commemorate the season and remind us all of being haunted.

Quote

Sometimes a picture or carving is not enough to show the spirit of Halloween. When this is the case, the best thing to do is to put a quote on your jack-o’-lantern. Keep it short and sweet, or not sweet–if that’s what you like.

Disney Character

We all love Disney and its many movie and television show characters. If you’re not feeling overly dedicated to the Halloween theme, you can decorate your pumpkin with a Disney Character. This would be a fun way to not have too scary of a jack-o’-lantern, but one that is still intriguing. Say goodbye to scary faces and hello to Olaf, Ariel and Mickey Mouse!

Hard Desgin

If you have decorated other jack-o’-lanterns before then maybe it’s time for you to put your skills to the test and go with a more advanced design. There are many examples of intricate patterns, but you can also use your imagination to create a scene on your pumpkin.

Multiple Pumpkins

Sometimes one pumpkin just isn’t enough to show off your thrill for the holiday, so why not use multiple pumpkins? You can put them together in a playful manner or even make a stack of them to put many faces together at once. Either way, the more the merrier!

Jack-o’-lanterns are for everyone no matter age or background. They are a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit and show your neighbors and friends your artistic abilities. There are so many ways to make different faces, quotes or pictures–you shouldn’t limit yourself! Go get a pumpkin and make a cute jack-o’-lantern before spooky season is over.
