Every year, a new surge of fashion trends always takes the fashion industry by storm. They go viral on social media influencing almost everyone to join the trend. However, there are always some that are pretty questionable. Let’s review my take on the ins and outs of fashion trends and see if you agree with any of them.
Let’s start with what’s in style. UGG boots come in at number one.
The Tazz platform slippers and the Classic Mini Platform Boot are the most popular styles. The Classic Mini Platform has become popular since model Bella Hadid was photographed wearing them. Due to Hadid’s influence, UGG shoes have gone viral on social media. I, personally, am not surprised that UGGs are having a comeback because they are cute, comfortable and easy to wear.
Coming in second place are parachute pants. These pants are putting us in a chokehold. Everywhere you go in stores, you will see at least one pair. The baggy retro, street-style look can spice up a simple outfit from a 5 to a 10 because everyone on the streets will notice your cool pants.
Lastly, we have off-the-shoulder sweaters for a sleek, casual look with a pop of collarbone that can attract the world’s attention. This trend can be dressed up or down leaving a wide variety of options.
Those are some of my top 2023 fashion trends that almost everyone enjoys styling. But of course, not everyone can agree or accept every trend. So here’s what items I think are currently out of style.
First is the comeback of skinny jeans. These are cute but not great. They were having a moment in the early 2000s where everyone got hooked, but, in my eyes, their time has ended. Now, people are focusing on baggy, straight-legged, wide-legged or cargo jeans, so I feel there is no room for skinny jeans to come in and steal back the spotlight.
Next are knee-length jean shorts, aka jorts. They are not fully shorts or regular jeans; they are right in the middle. In my opinion, they do not make sense because they are at an awkward length that can look a little off. Personally, I do not think it is the best look in the fashion industry.
Lastly, the one that is the most controversial of them all, is Boston clogs. Many people see the beauty of clogs, but I am not the biggest fan of them. There are many mixed reviews, and I am on the negative side. I feel like clogs could be a really cool look when people know how to style them such as wearing a cute pair of jeans and a nice sweater. But even then, I still think they look a little strange. If you want a cute pair of slippers, I definitely recommend UGG slippers over the clogs.
