How Did You Come Up With The Idea For Your Blog?
I first came up with the idea for my blog when I was in my co op class. As I was sitting peer reviewing resumes, I realized I had no real job experience or desirable skills. I knew that if I wanted to be a stronger candidate and qualify for writing jobs I needed to impress employers and show initiative which I thought I could do by creating a website. By creating a blog, I could write as many articles as I wanted to and publish them whatever I wanted to. Then I decided to ask a few of my very hilarious friends with strong writing backgrounds to join me because I knew that if I wanted to make this website into a real thing I would need all of the support I could get. And that’s how “Is This Why I’m Single” was born.

Where Does The Name Come From?
At first, we had no idea what we wanted to name the blog. We wanted it to be something simple and easy to remember. We also wanted our blog name to encompass who we were as writers: single, socially awkward but funny individuals. So we settled for “Is This Why I’m Single”, mostly because it was an available name, but also because we thought it captured the awkwardness and self loathing that makes the blog so funny and relatable.

What Do You Write About?
I write about anything and everything, it’s all dependent on my mood. I’ve written about Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, socially awkward situations we all find ourselves in, the best Disney Channel Original Movies. At “Is This Why I’m Still Single” we try to focus on throwbacks, pop culture and ratchet behavior. What we try to do is write articles that we think our readers will find funny or at least worth reading, that’s really it.

What Is Your Writing Inspiration?
We have modeled our blog after our favorite sites: “Buzzfeed”, “Betches Love This” and “How Do I Put This Gently”. I personally love the format of Buzzfeed as the articles are short, humorous and relevant. Almost every article we have includes gifs and I would say our sense of humor is just like these websites, except a little more ratchet and with a lot more grammatical errors.

What Have Been Some Of Your Most Popular Articles?
We’ve had great success with our articles, thanks to supportive friends and peers as well as others who have randomly stumbled onto our page. People really liked our “The 16 Reasons Why I’m Still Single” article as well as the “15 Really Specific Awkward Moments We’ve All Encountered”. We had over 30 articles and we’re constantly posting so it’s hard to tell which articles perform the the best.

Anything Else To Add?
You should read this blog! And if you already are, share it with a friend. I swear it’s funny and we have articles about almost everything so you’re bound to found something you like and identify with. And if you don’t read it, I’ll hunt you down (Just kidding, I’m way too busy eating cookies to do something as active as that.)
