1. What is Ribbons on the Runway?
Ribbons on the Runway is our annual Fashion Show and Silent Auction. This year it will be held on April 19th at 8pm in the Curry Student Center Ballroom on campus. Ribbons is an awesome event because not only do we get tons of restaurants and stores in the Boston community to contribute to our silent auction but we also give Northeastern students the opportunity to be runway models! Chapters from all around campus sign up to get all dolled up and strut their stuff, modeling our different looks from Boston Wear to Chapter letters to LF’s Spring collection!
2. Who/What does it benefit?
All proceeds will directly benefit our national philanthropy, Sharsheret: a not-for-profit organization of cancer survivors dedicated to addressing the unique challenges facing women living with breast cancer. Sharsheret is an organization that is very close to our sisters’ hearts, and we are so thrilled to be holding an event in their name.
3. How did you get involved in this event?
One of the aspects of Greek Life on campus that pulled me in back in September was the passion for their specific philanthropies. Whenever we talked to sisters to get a better idea of what this event entails, they immediately starting ranting and raving about the excitement and passion and fun this event holds. As someone who loves giving back, I knew I wanted to have a role in planning this epic event, even though I am a freshman who has never experienced it herself.
4. What is your favorite part about it?
It’s so exciting that we can have all of Northeastern’s chapters participate in our event! It’s fun to see guys and girls so proud to strut their letters and the other looks. Everyone gets really into this high-energy event, and knowing it’s for such an amazing cause makes it even more exciting.
