When we were kids, going out on Halloween night was essential. Most of us have fond memories of anxiously waiting in our costumes for the sun to set so we could Trick-or-Treat the night away. But now that we’re older, Halloween is associated with dressing up and going out to clubs in the city, often staying out until the wee hours of the morning. But some people are just not built for that.

Spending “Halloweekend” at home does not have to be boring. So whether you need to stay home or are electing for a cozy night in, here are some spooky season activities you can enjoy from the comfort of your apartment:

  1. Movie Night

One of the best ways to spend a cozy night in is to kick back and relax over a Halloween movie marathon! Queue up for favorite seasonal movies like Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown and The Addams Family. If you’re in the mood for a heart-racing thriller, throw on some classics like Scream, Halloween, or Night of the Living Dead. Pop some popcorn, put on some pajamas and get cozy in your favorite spot on the couch. This way you’ll be able to keep the Halloween spirit alive, but go to bed whenever you want!

  1. Baking

Fall is filled with many yummy treats — from pumpkin flavored cookies, breads and muffins to seasonal drinks and apple desserts — Halloweekend is the perfect time to bake those treats! Whether it’s your favorite nostalgic cookie, with spooky decorations, or something with a bit more je ne sais quoi, like a pumpkin cheesecake, baking is a fun activity by yourself or with company.

  1. Carve Pumpkins

Keep the undead away from your apartment and use your creativity to decorate and carve some pumpkins! Although most of us don’t have porches, decorating pumpkins can be a great way to connect with childhood memories and create some fun-looking decor! A bonus is to jam out to some ghoulish bops like Monster Mash, Thriller, This is Halloween and more!

  1. Slumber Party

All of the activities we’ve mentioned can be enjoyed solo, but could also be more exciting with a group of friends. Call up some of your BFFs that also want a cozy night in and do some of these things together! Have a pumpkin carving session before throwing some Halloween-themed cookies in the oven to eat while you watch a scary movie. You’re bound to make great memories and enjoy a stress-free evening.

We hope you found some inspiration for how to spend this upcoming weekend and possibly more Halloweens in the future. Whether it’s your first Halloween in the city or your hundredth, take this festive weekend to do what would bring you and your inner child the most joy. If you follow some of these tips, we can assure you that you won’t be dealing with any FOMO this year. And who knows, you might even have more fun (and save some money, too)!
