We Owned The Night!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.

At Take Back the Night on Wednesday, March 30th, students, alumni, professors, counselors, organizations, survivors and supporters gathered in remembrance and support of rape and sexual assault victims. It was an emotional night of listening to courageous young women’s stories of rape, sexual assault, stalking, relationship and domestic violence. It happened time and time again; one survivor telling her story on stage would influence another girl in the crowd to come up and share her personal experience, maybe even for the first time. These women displayed amazing courage and strength by getting on stage and opening up about their experiences in order to benefit the masses, raise awareness, and get others to speak out against rape. When tears showed up and tried to hold back the words of these survivors, “you’re strong” and “we love you” could be heard from different corners of the supportive audience. It was an emotional yet amazing and empowering experience.
