Three Celebrities That Radiate “That Girl” Energy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.

Beyoncé’s release of her highly anticipated seventh studio album Renaissance shook the world on July 29, 2022.

And rightfully so, we’re still reeling from it and relishing in the genius of her lyricism and stylistic vocals. But one track, in particular, stopped me in my tracks upon first listen, as it’s an ode to the hot girls and “it girls.”

You guessed it (hopefully); it’s none other than “That Girl.”

It’s track number one, and rightfully so, as it is our first introduction of what to expect from the rest of the album.

But this isn’t a Beyoncé album review, and don’t worry, you’ll get that from me as soon as she releases part two of Renaissance.

Okay, enough, but not really, because for those who don’t know what the phrase “that girl” means, Beyoncé breaks it down for us in her eponymously titled hit “That Girl.”

In the chorus, she gives it to us straight that “it’s not the diamonds” and it’s definitely not “my man.”

It’s an unexplained magnetism she’s explaining as she says that “you see it when you look to me,” and it’s out of her control as she “didn’t want this power.”

Being “that girl” is simply a state of being; there’s no to-do list to accomplishing that status.

So with that being said, I compiled a list of celebrities that embody and radiate “That Girl” energy.

Spoiler alert they have three attributes in common — they’re all Black, successful and formidable in their respective callings.

And that face card…it will never decline.

  1. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex
  1. Ryan Destiny, actress and singer
  1. Zendaya, actress and singer
