A Summer Full of Sunshine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCAT chapter.

“Summer, summer, summertime… Time to sit back and unwind.” Yes, it’s almost that time of the year again! The school year is winding down, exam time is almost here, and that means summer is right around the corner.

What are your plans for the summer? Are you going out of town? Are you planning to work? Or are you planning to Netflix and chill all summer until it is time to get on your grind for the upcoming school year? In my opinion, those are all great options. However, listed below are five ideas that you may want to put on your summer to-do-list!

1. Travel!

Whether it is to the other side of the world or one hour away from where you live, GO! Don’t be afraid to experience new things or people. Be adventurous and learn how beautiful life really is!

2. Write!

Make it your goal to find your inner self this summer. Write about your days and how beautiful the sun is shining. Find yourself amazed at what can be created when you  write.

3. Cook!

Who doesn’t love food? Oh my gosh, there’s so many different types of food. American, Italian, Spanish, Jamaican. This is your time to get creative in the kitchen! Go out and read some new cookbooks! Make your stomach satisfied. Yum!

4. Exercise!

There’s no better time to get in shape than in the summertime! So much ample time, you might as well get it in now! Go to the gym, go for a run! Maybe you can set a goal of working out 30 minutes a day or a few times a week! But don’t wait! Get in shape!

5. Work!

What is something most people love? Money!! Apply for jobs, maybe even an internship. If you have nothing else to do, you can always go to work. Having a job is never a bad thing. Go make that money!!

Read, write, and love!
Hi everyone! I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world. This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country. Check out my Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
