Valentine’s Day is the one day that sends single women heading to the supermarket for two key ingredients to survive the day: chocolate and multiple bottles of wine. This romantic holiday is great for those in a relationship. They can express their love for one another with champagne, chocolate strawberries and lingerie. But what can we do to celebrate the women who have been there for us in ways that a partner never has? The answer to that is Galentine’s Day!

What is it, you ask? As Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation says, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year!” Galentine’s day is celebrated on February 13th and it’s a great way to bring your best friends, mothers, co-workers or any woman who has been important to you, together for a day dedicated to celebrating women.

We all know how difficult it is to find the perfect gift for women. But when it comes to Galentine’s Day there are plenty of great ways to tell someone how much they mean to you. Below are some fun and personal DIY gift ideas to give to the women you love.

1.     Knitting is making its way back into society and as difficult as it may seem, it’s an easy hobby to pick up. A great gift for your wine loving pals is a personalized wine Koozie! Every time they reach for that bottle, they’ll think of you and ask you to join them (hopefully)!

2.     Another great gift is homemade candles. I suggest purchasing small candles and using decorative supplies, such as washi tape, to create something personal for the recipient. Placing them into mini-mason jars looks cute and also protects your friend from a potential fire in case she’s had one too many bottles of wine.

3.     Homemade cards aren’t as popular as they used to be, but they allow you to write a personalized note, which is more meaningful than receiving something from Hallmark. It also acts as a 2-in-1 gift if you place a gift card for their favorite store or nail salon inside.

4.     At-home spa day! It’s really easy to create facemasks, hair masks and massaging creams with products you find at home such as eggs, oil, and avocados. Having a spa day at home with your girlfriends is a great way to relax and get closer together.

5.     Go out to brunch! I can’t go one Sunday without finding myself with a group of friends, hanging out and eating delicious food. Topping off the meal with mimosas or bloody Mary’s makes for a really great time.

6.     If you’re more into the risqué sexy fun, feel free to hand out cute little baggies with mini-vibrators (I suggest the bullet wand), condoms, and lube. You’re sending the message that you want your girl to have fun, but also be safe and empowered.

7.     Last but not least are personalized mugs! I don’t know about you, but I can’t start my day without a good cup of coffee. Drinking from a mug that a friend made can also serve as a pick me up, because we know that someone out there is thinking about us.

These are just a few ideas, but there are tons more out there that are just as fun. We may never have the energy or passion that Leslie Knope has (would you crochet someone’s face on a pillow?), but we can still put our efforts in. And this goes without saying but no matter what you decide to give, make sure there’s chocolate involved.

Have a great Galentine’s Day! XOXO
