Quotes to Get You Through a Rainy Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

Some people find rainy days to be relaxing. It’s usually the perfect time to kick back with a cup  of tea and read a book. However, rainy days can also be extremely inconvenient. For example, it’s never fun to trek across campus in the pouring rain, with or without an umbrella. Regardless of whether or not you love rainy days or not, it’s undeniable that it’s been raining a lot lately, and will likely rain even more throughout this semester. These quotes are perfect for those rainy days.

“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” -Bob Marley

“Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards.” -Vladimir Nabokov

“The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually.” -Eeyore

“Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.” -Langston Hughes

“Today is the first of August. It is hot, steamy and wet. It is raining. I am tempted to write a poem. But I remember what it said on one rejection slip: ‘After a heavy rainfall, poems titled ‘Rain’ pour in from across the nation.’” -Sylvia Plath

“Nothing reminds us of an awakening more than rain.” –

“Rain showers my spirit and waters my soul.” -Emily Logan Decens

“Thunderstorms are as much our friends as the sunshine.” -Criss Jami

“I ran my fastest marathon in the rain.” -Bill Rodgers

“If we see a sad rain, it doesn’t mean the rain is sad, but it means we see it. That’s an easily dismissible kind of projection. But what I’m struggling to say is that we take the rain in through our own hearts and emotions and senses and skin, and all those filters have an impact.” -Karen Joy Fowler

“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.” -Jerry Chin

“Rain is good for me. I feel like I achieve clarity actually when it rains. The longer I have to sit and wait, the clearer my game becomes to me.” -Venus Williams

“Being soaked alone is cold. Being soaked with your best friend is an adventure.” -Emily Wing Smith

“Whenever it rains you will think of her.” -Neil Gaiman

“Never dance in a puddle when there’s a hole in your shoe. (It’s always best to take your shoes off first).” -John D. Rhodes

Whether or not you like the rain, it is inevitable. Like many things, all we can do is make the best of it. Hopefully these quotes will change your perspective on rainy days. Or, at the very least, that you’ll have something to read over and think about on the next day that it’s too rainy to comfortably go outside.
