Valentine’s Day is approaching and whether you’re single or in a relationship, a great way to spend the day is watching some great rom coms. They show love in such a pure and wholesome way and, combined with quality humor, it’s the perfect type of movie to watch on Valentine’s Day. I’ve compiled a short list of movies you can watch either by yourself, with a group of your closest friends, or with your significant other. However you decide, have fun and feel the love!

1. The Decoy Bride

David Tennant plays a well-renowned author who travels to a small Scottish island to get married to his fiance but ends up falling in love with the witty local

Where to Watch: Available to buy on Amazon Prime

2. Leap Year

A classic where  Amy Adams goes on a road trip to Ireland to propose to her not-so-great boyfriend

Where to Watch: Available to buy on Amazon Prime and watch with a Starz subscription

3. The Proposal

This is definitely one of my favorite rom coms. It never fails to make me laugh and it’s also super cute. Nothing beats the power comedy duo of Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

4. Set it Up

A love story that made me smile with joy the whole time. You should definitely watch this if you haven’t yet because everything about it just crafts the perfect rom com about two assistants who try to set up their bosses.

Where to watch: Available to watch on Netflix.

5. Love, Simon

The combination of Nick Robinson’s brilliant acting and hilarious writing makes this rom com one for the ages. It is also a gay love story so it’s nice to see that representation in movies.

Where to Watch: Available to buy on Amazon Prime and watch with an HBO subscription

6. Moonstruck

Moonstruck is one of my absolute favorite movies. Nic Cage and Cher fall in love, what’s better than that?

Where to Watch: Hulu, Amazon Prime

7. Amélie

The most beautiful movie with the most beautiful love story. Plus, this is a French film, which automatically makes it more romantic.

Where to Watch: Hulu

I hope you enjoy all of these movies as much as I do, even if you’re spending Valentine’s Day with your friends or just by yourself. Just remember that there are many different types of love other than romantic and watching all of these movies is definitely a great form of self-love.
