As many take this time to break out their Christmas decorations and play a Christmas playlist on repeat, I continue to drink my pumpkin spice and look forward to Thanksgiving. This is probably one of my favorite holidays because it makes me think of spending time with family and enjoying great food. The holiday reminds me of fun memories and brings the feeling of good vibes.

The day, for me, starts off with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is something that I’ve been watching for as long as I can remember so I always turn it on as soon as I wake up, and hope that I’m not too late for the Broadway shows. The parade just gets me excited for the day and makes me feel happy.

Another aspect that I love about Thanksgiving, and maybe this is just me, is getting ready and picking out my outfit. I always try to dress up for Thanksgiving in autumn colors and do the same with my makeup. I find it fun to play around with the colors and see what looks I can create since I tend to gravitate towards brighter, pastel colors. I just also love a reason to dress up and always consider holidays a reason to do so.

Of course, one of my favorite parts of the day is the delicious food. I always look forward to the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and stuffing. The thing I look forward to the most though is the pumpkin pie! I love pumpkin flavored things and Thanksgiving wouldn’t feel complete without that pie. What makes the dinner special, however, isn’t the food but the time with family. My family is from all different states so it’s not every day we have dinner together, and it’s always fun to see each other and catch up.

Although Thanksgiving might look different this year, it can still be celebrated. You can maybe have your family on zoom and you can still dress up and have your favorite foods. Do what you can to make the holiday as normal as possible and enjoy it.
