At this point, we are well into spooky season, and for some people this is the best time of year. It can be difficult, however, to find fun things to do in October when you are the type of person who doesn’t enjoy anything scary. These fun fall activities will allow you to still celebrate spooky season while staying safe from the scariness.

  1. A trip to the pumpkin patch: Is it really fall if you don’t go to a pumpkin patch? Going to a pumpkin patch, you are guaranteed a fun time, plus they’re a great spot for pictures. With pumpkins of all sizes, you can have fun trying to find the perfect one. Apple trees can also often be found at a pumpkin patch, allowing you to bring home another fall fruit staple. Hayrides are also available to go on, and they are usually not scary, although I wouldn’t go at night.
  2. A not-so-scary movie night: Of course horror movies are the go-to thing to watch this time of year, but when you’re like me and can’t even keep your eyes open through the commercials, they are out of the question. No need to feel left out though, Disney Channel has a list of Halloween movies and episodes to watch that will put you in the spooky spirit. Don’t get me wrong though, that one “Suite Life of Zack and Cody” episode can be a little too scary at times. You can also find Halloween movies on Freeform that shouldn’t leave you unable to sleep at night.
  3. Pumpkin painting or a carving party: I hope you like that pumpkin you picked out at the patch because it is time to paint it, or carve it if you find that more fun. Pumpkins are for strictly fall so enjoy the activities that include them while you can. You can paint over the orange to make it whatever color works best for you and keep your home decorated for fall, or put a design over the orange if you want to keep that color. This can also be tied into the movie night, as you can do both at the same time.
  4. Coffee date: Now this may be something that can be done during any season, but something about going on a coffee date in the fall seems so cozy. You can have a pumpkin spice latte in one hand and a pumpkin muffin in the other while the leaves change and sweaters start to be worn. That personally sounds amazing to me! There are other fall drink options such as hot apple cider, chai tea, and basically anything with cinnamon. There are many options to enjoy your time at a cafe with friends or a date.

It may be called “spooky season,” but focusing on the fact that fall is in full bloom is what you can focus on! The coziness aspect and cute activities are a whole other side of the season that should be appreciated. If you are part of the group that would rather hide under a blanket than watch even a second of a horror movie, join in on the fun of these activities and help make the season a little less spooky for other people like us.
