Collegiettes, meet Andrew Perez! Andrew is currently a junior at Montclair State University and he is majoring in biology and has two minors in chemistry and French! Andrew is well known around campus for many things because he is always doing something new and exciting. Andrew tells HC Montclair, “I think my leadership on this campus is what makes me stand out the most. I represent many different parts of this campus, being a science major, part of Greek life, and working for res ed”. Needless to say, you are bound to see Andrew somewhere. Andrew goes on to say, “I am currently the Secretary of the Gamma Mu Chapter of the Theta Xi fraternity here at Montclair State. My fraternity has definitely helped me by shaping me into the man I am today. From the numerous community service events that we participate in, to the thousands of dollars we raise to donate to philanthropy each semester, I feel that this has made me a recognized leader on campus”. Andrew has a lot of his plate but, he handles it very well because he is such a hard worker!
Andrew has many hobbies, he tells HC Montclair, “I spend most of my spare time doing community service with my fraternity. I also enjoy drawing, crafting, and singing (even though I can’t sing well). Anything that involves socializing and making a fool out of myself, [that] is usually what you’ll find me doing”. Andrew loves to listen to music and he’s always looking for a rave to go to. “I love EDM (Electric Daisy Music) and going to raves. It’s always so interesting seeing what these DJ’s can come up with. The music just gives such a euphoric feeling and gives good vibes”. That sounds like so much fun; we should all go one day!
When asked why he chose the major that he chose, Andrew tells us that ever since he was a kid he knew that he wanted to help people. He didn’t know if he wanted to be a doctor or another type of health professional. After thinking about it for some time, Andrew decided that he wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy. In high school, Andrew excelled in science, so choosing a science major was not that hard for him. Andrews says that this journey hasn’t been the easiest but, he couldn’t imagine choosing another path in life. We asked Andrew how he will achieve this goal and he tells us, “Hard work always pays off. Although the schooling for the Pharmacy career has not been easy, countless study hours and practice has made my goal attainable. Look out everyone, Dr. Perez will be out there soon!” Andrew has a great future ahead of him and with the support of his best friends and fraternity brothers, he knows that he can do anything he puts his mind to! “I would have to say my biggest supporters are my three best friends and my fraternity brothers. My fraternity brothers always push me to the reach the best of my abilities, and support me when I need it. My best friends have been there for me since day one and have always had my back whenever I needed it”.
